The Members Of The Band

Martin Smith
Martin Smith was the lead singer, a guitar player, and songwritter for the band Delirious?  Martin is one of the founding members of the band along with Tim Jupp.  Before he went full time into being a member of the band he worked as a sound engineer at ICC studios in Eastbourne, UK.  Martin James Smith was born on July 6th 1970, and is married to Anna Smith, the sister of band-member and bass player Jon Thatcher,

Martin and Anna have six children.  In 1995, Martin was involved in a near-fatal car accident, and during the weeks of his recovery, he decided to become a full-time musician. Martin went on to help write some of the most well known songs of Christian worship music. In 2009 when the band decided to retire Martin said that he wanted more time to spend with his family and devote more time to the CompassionArt. Since the break up of delirious Martin has started a solo career and has released some recordings under the name of God's Dance Floor Movement one and two.

Stu G
Stuart David Garrard better known as Stu G was the lead guitar player and vocalist for Delirious?.  Stu also did some song writting for the band, however Martin was the primary writter of the songs.  Stu G joined Delirious? (then known as The Cutting Edge Band) in 1994. Prior to this, he had worked as an electrician and played session guitar for other artists, and played with the band Treasure Park.  Stu G has a trademark guitar sound that is reminicent of the Edge from U2 using distortion and effects and for me is one of the top guitarists in Christian Rock. Stu G was born on July 6, 1963 and is married to Karen Garrard and they have two daughters.  Since Delirious? has retired he has been busy playing in a band called One Sonic Society, and has toured playing guitar for Michael W. Smith and Amy Grant

Stew Smith

Stewart Smith knicknamed Smeezer was the drummer for Delirious?.  Stew was with the band from the start due to having already worked on a project that included Tim Jupp.  Stewart brought an energy and edge to the band with his enthusiasim style and energetic drumming.  Stewart was born on Janurary 21st 1967 and decided to leave the band in 2008.  While he was with the band he did much of the design and artistic work for the band, for album covers and other art related projects.  This was already a passion of his before he began his journey with band.  And after leaving the band he has continued into the field of art and design and has started a creative design business called Smeezer.  Stewart has also long been interested in endurance training, fitness, and triathalons.

Tim Jupp
Tim Jupp was the keyboard player for Delirious?. Tim was with the band from the start back in the Cutting Edge days. Tim Jupp and Martin Smith became friends while working together at a recording studio. There they decided to form a band. Before that, he released an instrumental cassette-only album titled "Hooked On Ishmael". Following the band's manager Tony Patoto decision to leave his position and return to his native Seattle, Tim assumed the position of band manager. And since the band retired Tim has gone on to organize the Big Church Day Out Festival in England. BigChurchDayOut is the brainchild of Tim Jupp. Tim now devotes much of his time to see people of different backgrounds come together to celebrate the Christian faith in events that offer something for the whole family. Tim said this about how Big Church Day Out came to be, "Delirious? helped to facilitate huge gatherings in many countries and this has given me a vision to see this kind of thing in the UK, where the Church can come together to encourage each other,".

Jon Thatcher
Jon Thatcher was the bass guitarist of the band. Called by Martin delirious's "secret weapon". His involvement with the band began as their merchandise salesman, selling tapes at the end of their shows. He began playing with the band on Sunday evenings as part of a youth event known as "Cutting Edge" in Littlehampton, England. Jon was the fourth Bass player the Cutting Edge band had and he was the one who finally solidified that position in the band. Jon Thatcher was the youngest member of Delirious? (before the induction of Paul Evans), and each of his three sisters married another Delirious? member (Martin Smith, Tim Jupp and Stew Smith). Jon was the "web master" of the official Delirious? web site, and continues to be interested in internet communications.

Paul Evans
Paul was the new drummer for Delirious?, following Stewart Smith leaving the band. Since the age of 17 he has been a session player. He has played with Cathy Burton and has previously played with Delirious? before when Stewart Smith couldn't make a tour. Paul Evans was trained at the Academy of Contemporary Music and features prominently as a drum teacher on the Musicademy Worship Drum Course DVDS.
